🚍 The Future of Public Transport in Trinidad & Tobago is Here and It’s Digital.
Say goodbye to long lines and cash-only fares. The National Payment and Innovation Company of Trinidad and Tobago (NPICTT), in collaboration with the Public Transport Service Corporation (PTSC) has transformed how we move with a smart, seamless digital ticketing system designed for today’s commuter.
The digital ticketing solution proposed by the National Payment and Innovation Company of Trinidad and Tobago for the Public Transport Service Corporation is designed to modernise public transportation payments through a seamless, cashless, and data-driven system.
At its core, the solution leverages NPICTT’s national digital payments infrastructure to enable commuters to purchase, store, and validate bus tickets electronically via mobile devices, smart cards, or other digital channels. This aligns with the Government’s broader push to digitise public services and transition away from paper-based and cash-dependent systems toward secure electronic payments.
Planning, Economic Affairs and Development Minister, Kennedy Swaratsingh and Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Eli Zakour launched the initiative on April 30, 2026.
Minister Swaratsingh emphasised the connection of this initiative to the Government’s drive to digitise public services and transition from paper based and cash dependent modes of operation.
Minister Zakour highlighted the importance of this deliverable in modernising transportation systems in Trinidad and Tobago. He added that this adds to the government’s thrust to deliver services that are more efficient, more accessible and more convenient for the travelling public.
NPIC TT Chairman, Dr. Nigel Fulchan expressed the Company’s commitment to modernise and digitise public services through initiatives such as this partnership with the PTSC.
What this means for you:
✔️ Pay fares instantly using your phone, card, or online.
✔️ Scan & ride with secure QR code validation.
✔️ Skip the lines — buy and manage tickets anytime, anywhere.
✔️ Enjoy smarter fares with passes, concessions & fare capping.
✔️ Experience better service through real-time data & route optimisation.
The solution will be further strengthened by NPICTT’s broader capabilities, including secure payment processing and digital identity (eKYC) frameworks, ensuring compliance, fraud reduction, and efficient user onboarding.
Overall, the digital ticketing system aims to enhance efficiency, reduce cash handling risks, improve transparency, and deliver a more accessible and user-friendly public transport experience, while supporting Trinidad and Tobago’s transition to a fully digital economy.
