The Index for Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages increased from 154.7 in May 2026 to 156.9 in June 2026, reflecting an increase of 1.4%. Contributing significantly to this increase was the general upward movement in the prices of fresh whole chicken, chive, other chilled or frozen chicken, irish potatoes, frozen whole chicken, celery, pumpkin, cabbage, fresh carite and grapes. However, the full impact of these price increases was offset by the general decrease in the prices of cucumber, brown sugar, white hops bread, orange, mayonnaise, ketchup, ochroes, chocolate malt beverages, table margarine and macaroni.
A further review of the data for June 2026 compared with May 2026 reflected an increase in the sub-index for Clothing and Footwear of 0.1%. All other sections remained unchanged.
