| | Major FunctionsThe Ministry’s major functions include: - Developing, co-ordinating and reviewing the short, medium and long-term policy framework to guide economic and social development, in collaboration with key stakeholders;
- Advising on the allocation of financial resources consistent with national priorities for social and economic development;
- Preparing, monitoring, facilitating implementation and reviewing the Public Sector Investment Programme;
- Securing for the PSIP adequate resources on the most beneficial terms and conditions, including loan and grant resources from the MFI’s;
- Acting as a liaison between the MFI’s and the Government on matters relating to loan and grant programmes;
- Evaluating the developmental impacts of programmes and projects;;
- Collecting, processing and disseminating a range of primary and secondary data in a timely and cost-efficient manner;
- Building public awareness of available statistical products;
- Co-ordinating the national statistical system;
- Co-ordinating, accessing and allocating technical cooperation in support of national institutions and Civil Society, consistent with national development priorities;
- Co-ordinating and monitoring the implementation of the National Population Policy;
- Planning the development of the country’s manpower resources;
- Formulating and employing a comprehensive and accepted national planning policy framework for decision-making on land use and land development;
- Assisting in the preparation of up-to-date planning legislation aimed at a streamlined participatory and transparent planning system;
- Re-engineering the delivery system for land use and land development to ensure greater involvement of the THA, municipal and regional corporations and the public;
- Facilitating the implementation of urban development projects;
- Preparing facilitating and reviewing the implementation of a National Indicative Programme for the development of priority focal sectors funded by the European Development Fund resources;
